Udaipur Kumbhalgarh Weekend Tour

Morning: Arrival and City Palace
After arrival at Udaipur Airport or Railway Station, our representative welcomes you and arranges your transfer to the hotel in a private cab. After check-in and a quick fresh-up, your first major stop is the City Palace, the sprawling royal complex that dominates Udaipur's skyline.

Walking through the palace is like stepping into Rajasthan's royal history – ornate balconies, courtyards with detailed carvings, galleries displaying royal weapons and artifacts, and everywhere you turn, views of Lake Pichola. Even if you don't pay for the museum inside, just walking around the palace exteriors and courtyard areas gives you a solid sense of the building's grandeur.

Late Morning: Jagdish Temple & Old City Lanes
From the palace, a short walk downhill takes you to Jagdish Temple, a 17th-century temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, known for its tall shikhara and finely carved stone work. The temple is busy with devotees and tourists, and the atmosphere – the sound of bells, chanting, and the smell of incense – adds a spiritual layer to your morning.

If you have time, a quick walk through the narrow lanes near the temple shows you the everyday side of Udaipur – small shops, chai stalls, families going about their day.

Afternoon: Saheliyon Ki Bari & Fateh Sagar Lake
After lunch (arranged at a local restaurant), you visit Saheliyon Ki Bari, a beautiful garden built by a Mewar ruler for his queen and her companions. With fountains, lotus ponds, marble pavilions and shaded pathways, it's a peaceful break from sightseeing – a place where many travellers sit quietly and just enjoy being there.

Next, you head to Fateh Sagar Lake, another of Udaipur's major lakes, surrounded by green hills and popular with both tourists and locals. You can stroll along the lakeside, enjoy snacks from small vendors, or relax on a bench with a view.

Evening: Lake Pichola Boat Ride & Sunset
As the evening approaches, you head towards Lake Pichola for the tour's signature experience – a boat ride on the water. From the boat, you see the City Palace from the water, the white Taj Lake Palace (now a luxury hotel) on one of the islands, and if your boat stops at Jag Mandir, you can walk around that historic island palace for a few minutes.

The best timing for this ride is around sunset, when the light gets softer and the city lights start reflecting on the water – truly postcard-perfect.

Later, your driver drops you back at the hotel. Overnight stay in Udaipur.

Morning: Breakfast & Drive to Kumbhalgarh
After breakfast at the hotel, you check out and begin a scenic 2-hour drive from Udaipur to Kumbhalgarh Fort, located in the Aravalli hills. The drive itself is part of the experience – you pass through rural Rajasthan, small villages, and green hills.

Late Morning: Kumbhalgarh Fort Exploration
You arrive at Kumbhalgarh Fort, one of India's most impressive medieval fortifications and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This fort is famous for its 36-kilometer-long defensive wall, the second-longest in the world, and was built over many centuries starting in the 15th century.

Walking around the fort, you explore:

• The Main Fort Gate– An impressive entrance with thick stone walls and strategic design.
• Palace Structures– Ruins of royal palaces and administrative buildings inside the fort complex.
• Temples– Several small temples dedicated to various deities, built inside the fort for the royal family and soldiers.
• Rampart Walks– You can walk along portions of the famous wall and enjoy panoramic views of the Aravalli Hills and surrounding villages.

The fort's strategic hilltop location and impressive architecture tell the story of Rajasthan's medieval defense strategies and royal power. It's especially photogenic in the late morning and early afternoon light.

Afternoon: Return to Udaipur & Departure
After exploring the fort for 2–3 hours, you drive back towards Udaipur (2-hour drive), stopping for lunch en route if preferred. You'll be dropped at Udaipur Airport or Railway Station by late evening for your onward journey, bringing an end to your 2 days Udaipur Kumbhalgarh tour.
